Roaming Favorites application program is a good example, where a user can share over the Internet a set of 'Favorites' listing in his Internet Explorer browser.

Technologies used are SOAP, XML, VC++, ASP.net and VB.net.

Use of Roaming Favorites

• The user will register by providing a login name/password, creating a user account on a SQL2000 server - where sets of Favorites listings are stored.
  
  
• The user will be asked if the user’s existing Favorites listing should be copied up to the web site as a “shared set” and, if so, what the name of the “shared set” would be (note the above diagram has a shared set name of “Shared Favorites”).
  
  
• The user (or another person with access to the account login name/password) could then install the Roaming Favorites executable on another computer and access the “shared set” via the Roaming Favorites pull-down menu.
  
  
• Choosing the “shared set” option would cause the existing set of Favorites to be saved locally and the “shared set” of Favorites to be copied from the web server and written to the “C:\Documents and Settings\username\Favorites” folder.
  
  
• The user has access to the Roaming Favorites pull down menu for further options.
